Welcome everyone to this blog! I believe that you will find some useful posts here. Because I don’t have much free time, there are not many posts yet, but I hope that I will try my best to include all the useful information and I hope that every day there will be new post(s) updated. Please just click any button or topic to read more. Thanks!

Do you see only square boxes on this blog or some other related problems and how can you solve this?First Solution: You should install Khmer Unicode to be able to read text in Khmer. To do this, it requires a bit advanced knowledge of using computer software and installation. However, it won’t be such difficult if you own a pack of Unicode CD, which includes all related software: OpenOffice.org2.1, Mekhala-web-browser, Khmer Unicode Typing, Moyura-email-client, Khmer-Spellchecker-v1.0-Final and a lot more related software and materials. It used to be distributed free sometime back. I am not so sure if the free copy is still available, but you can effort to buy it; it is very cheap. Also, you can contact me for a free copy and instruction at (855)-16 72 92 77 or via e-mail:pisethinfo@yahoo.com or you can download it from here by clicking the small box on the left sidebar. However, it does not include all only enable you to write and read.

Second Solution: There are a few ways to read Khmer without installing Khmer Unicode.

Follow the instruction below:

  1. Download usp10.dll. If you use Internet Explorer, just copy it to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\
  2. Also, you need to download the needed fonts HERE and copy them to C:\Windows\Fonts\. If you are not familiar with this here are the steps: click Start > Run > and type Fonts in the text box and click OK to go to the font directory. Then paste your fonts. Because I zip these fonts, you will have to unzip them first after you have downloaded.
  3. Restart your browser and visit the blog again.

It is strongly recommended that you use Firefox, Netscape, or Mekhala instead of Internet Explorer for better view.

In case you want to write Khmer for your comment or any where on your web browser, you have to install Khmer Unicode keyboard first. After you install Khmer Unicode you can type Khmer by changing keyboard to Khmer. You will find the icon “CA”, the default keyboard. That’s it! Enjoy your browsing.

Writer jailed for Thai ‘insult’

Harry Nicolaides says his jailing “feels like a bad dream”

Australian writer Harry Nicolaides has been sentenced to three years in a Thai jail for insulting the monarchy.

Nicolaides wrote a novel four years ago, which contained a brief passage referring to an unnamed crown prince. It sold just seven copies.

He admitted the charge of insulting the royal family, but said he was unaware he was committing an offence.

Thailand’s monarchy is sheltered from public debate by some of the world’s most stringent “lese-majeste” laws. Read More
