There will be sometime when either of your volume or network icon disappears from the system tray, or sometimes both of them are not there. Usually, when this happens, we just simply right click on the free area of the taskbar (not on the area of the system tray) and then go to Properties ->> Notification Area and you will see this dialog. Then check the box under the system Icon and click OK. That’s it.Image

However, sometimes, it does not allow you to check these boxes. What should you do?

Then you have to work with modifying your regedit. go to run and type REGEDIT followed by clicking OK. Then it opens the regedit.

Go to

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify]

Delete these two values (IconStreams and PastIconsStream) and then restart your Explorer using taskmanager. I hope you know how to restart your Explorer.

Now you can go to the Notification Area just as mentioned above and check the boxes. They will go back to your system tray.
